How Do We Walk Out Obedience To Jesus - Part 1
Not only does the Lord call us to abandon all selfishness, He asks us to obey Him daily as well. None of us desire to walk with God while doing our own will, we have hearts to truly follow His leading. Listen in as the Holy Spirit launches ten practical steps to doing just that!!
Jesus Is Your Shepherd So Live Full!
We live in a western version of Christianity that has allowed many to reenact a major blunder of God’s people from Exodus 20:18-19. The children of Israel told Moses that he should talk to God for them instead of them walking out their own relationship with Him. Jesus paid an incredible price to abolish the veil of separation so everyone could walk intimately with God’s Spirit! This is the New Covenant and therefore our birthright to walk with God personally without need of a “go between.”
Exposing The Gospel Of Convenience
Jesus never watered down the truth about the cost of following Him. Yet we live in a culture that has often propagated a gospel of convenience that promised “easy living” and God taking care of all our desires. We live in a day where people overemphasize the sermon and underemphasize whether anyone is actually walking it out. Are you prepared to give everything to follow Jesus? If so, you’re in great company with many who have gone before you in losing their lives to find HIM!
God Is Worth Pursuing!
Jesus had the radical idea that His Father, His Father’s Kingdom, and His Father’s love were all worth giving everything for! We pray every believer in the modern church era here’s this dynamic and challenging message – Jesus is worth following and our Heavenly Father is worth seeking out and pursuing with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. So many times when crowds and multitudes gathered around Jesus, He gave them challenging Christianity not convenient Christianity.
Dying to Live
Jesus demonstrated with His own life what He spoke about often that true life comes out of death. In Luke 9, Jesus tells us to deny ourselves and that if we lose our own life we will find life. When you learn to die to yourself in the moment it may look and feel like death but it opens up to a beautiful life that expresses itself in self-giving ways. When Jesus died it sure just looked like death to everyone, but three days later a glorious life was manifested! He invites us all into this way of being, this same pattern of life and on the surface to our self-centered culture it looks crazy, but on the backside of the self-denial and making Jesus Lord what we find is a kind of life to the fullest. It is a whole new way to live, be and think and it ends in looking more like Jesus!
Seeking God’s Honor Not Man’s Honor
One of the ways we deny ourselves is to “not receive honor from men” as Jesus stated in John 5:41. When we seek approval from people rather than from God, Jesus said if hinders our faith and obedience! Get so rooted and grounded in God’s love for you that it removes all fear of men’s faces!
Humility Agrees With God!
The most humble thing you can do is agree with who God says you are and do what He asks you to do! When He asks you to step out, you must know He’s not asking you to do it apart from Him! In addition, capture God’s heart for others as well because the most humble thing you can do is agree with who God says they are!!
